Hoof 'n Hearts Horse Rescue

Candace Scheirer: Handling All of You and Your Horse's Needs

Candace Scheirer

Candace Scheirer is the founder and trainer of Hoof 'n Hearts Horse Rescue.  Candace started her long road of horses when she was only 29-months old!  She has been hooked ever since. Horses have always come first in Candace's life, and not much has changed.  Candace started her riding career showing Leadline on a large pony, moving up the ranks through the hunter shows. Due to her families financial restraints, Candace never got "made horses" handed to her.  If she wanted a nice horse, she had to do it the hard way.  She would find inexpensive horses, usually ex-racehorses, and devote all her time, energy, and talent into turning them into a finely polished horse. Although Candace did enjoy horse showing, she enjoyed training and getting the horses to that point even more.  She always had tons of guts, and got the experience of riding every kind of horse while growing up.  At age ten, Candace was exercising and breaking racehorses for the track! She never worried about getting bucked off, and if she did eat dirt, she'd brush herself off and try again.  In her early teens, Candace started working at a Warmblood Sporthorse breeding farm, handling everything from weanling and yearlings, to breaking the mature warmbloods.  She also worked selling horses on consignment for that farm.  Candace has worked at many farms and rode under many trainers, picking up tricks of the trade here and there which help her train horses today.  Candace also spent some time working Ocala and West Palm Beach, Florida for big names such as Nona Garson (The Ridge) and Augustine Walch (W. Charlot Farm).  After those endeavors, she made the long haul to work in Stratford, Ontario, breaking and training expensive horses at W. Charlot Farm, home of the stallions Rio Grande, Viva Voltaire, and Futurist.  While Candace loves working with show horses, preparing and training them, her true passion is rescuing and rehabilitating horses in need.  She has been rescuing horses her whole life, but only recently did she start her own non-profit organization to help with the hefty costs that go along saving horses.  Candace has been told already that she can't save them all...but anyone who knows Candace knows she'll die trying! Candace brings a lot of knowledge, talent, and natural ability to the table, along with a laid-back attitude, full of patience and a huge sense of humor.

Marius Starosciak

Marius Starosciak, a general contractor and owner of Starosciak Construction, is responsible for many of the improvements made around our previous farm.  He is a jack of all trades, and there is no problem too big or small for him to repair.  Although he had a busy schedule remodelling houses and doing other construction jobs, he still took time to help around the farm.  He improved the driveway, helped promote better drainage, and completely furnished our outdoor ring with railroad ties and sand footing.  He has been invalueable to us, and we all owe him a well deserved Thank You!

Marius will have a website up and running soon.  Feel free to contact him for a free estimate on home improvement and remodelling...no job is too big or too small for him.  He is backed by many very satisfied customers, with impeccable work to prove it.  Marius' contact information is located on our Contact page.  Don't forget to tell him that Hoof 'n Hearts sent you...
